Inspiration and insights to share

When your year 10-12 students from the city take part in The Rural Experience, not only do they discover potential new career pathways for themselves but they also bring back rural insights to share with their school community and families.

This program can be a catalyst for your entire school community to get a better understanding of rural opportunities and challenges.  We encourage students to raise awareness on their return and to remain an active link between rural communities and the city.

We work with each school to tailor a program to suit the interests of their student group, so each program is a little different.  However, a typical program usually involves:

– Welcome and introduction from community representatives and our Program Coordinator on the ground
– A Q&A forum or Career Spotlight session where a range of different workers and professionals from the community share insights into their role and a typical day in their working lives
– An optional component tailored to your school group.  Options include:

  • Work experience
  • Curriculum extension
  • Community service
  • Outdoor education

– Sightseeing and social activities.
